Vulnerability vol. 2 4x6
4x6 abstract mixed media piece on paper.
The abstract minis collection stems from a desire to streamline and perfect my process while inspiring my own creativity in a zero pressure practice. Each abstract was created in a small series with the same color palette. The process starts with a foundation of watercolor brush strokes and washes in 1-3 various pigments. The second step I take is adding line work and markings. This step is done with charcoal, pastels, or pen and ink. Each piece is completed with fun blotches of texture, bringing the piece to life, making it jump off the tiny masterpiece.
This abstract process allows my creativity to flow without a stifling commitment to style or materials. Though the process is low pressure, it’s opened my mind and my heart to my artistic voice in a new way. I believe this series will be the springboard for where my art is going, and will perhaps find its home.
