The Helena series is named for the beautiful Island of St. Helena and it’s incredible inspiration. Beaches lined with driftwood, and rocks covered in Oysters. The shapes, colors, and movement touched me.
Artists are emotional beings. I truly believe thats what gives them the ability to create beauty. True art comes from deep inside the artist and allows others to connect with something that speaks to their inner being as well.
These minis are created out of brokenness and despair, knowing that on the other side of the brush is freedom. After not painting for weeks, I picked up the brush and created 24 new minis, because this process was essential to my well being.
I wholeheartedly believe that my ability to create, my draw towards particular colors and shapes, my need to create motion and movement and beauty, it all comes from my Creator. My need to create comes from Him. The freedom and healing I find in art, is His purpose in me.
