Studio scenes.
When you’re getting ready to launch a collection…or when I am getting ready to launch a collection, I can really feel it in my studio. There’s a mood. There’s the mess, of course, but there are also little vignettes, quiet corners of beauty. I like for the whole brand of a collection to be clear. I like cohesively. So, I try to create moments with my art. Moments where it’s story comes alive and it clear. So this post is all about those moments. A lot of them are repetitive, but as you’ll see, the beauty is worth breathing in.
Here’s Teddy, admiring his work. Collaborating on this collection with my sensory kid has been a practice of relinquishing control and trusting the process. His beautiful perspective opens my eyes in so many ways. Our combinations of abstract mixed media have developed something I love and am proud of.
The natural wood frames with the neutral tones call to me. I love bringing in the live plants and terracotta to complement the abstract texture and watercolor tones. Teddy brings his perspective to life with charcoal markings and childish scribbles.
The whole collection is about the season we’re in with this guy. I found it absolutely necessary to include him. He truly brought it to life, stirring my emotions and bringing my heart into each piece.
