Clothed in Abstract
Back in August of 2023, I went on my first-ever artist retreat with some of my very best friends. Becky Coleman, figure and landscape artist based out of Sarasota, FL was among them. As we sat around a massive dining room table in a beautiful modern AirB&B, Becky and I were inspired to combine our giftings and create a series of work together.
I laid an abstract foundation for each piece, then Becky found and revealed figures emerging from each abstract form.
Becky Coleman loves painting the female figure in a variety of mediums. Becky draws inspiration for her vibrant, mixed-media paintings and illustrations from her outdoor adventures. She uses landscapes as a powerful story-telling tool for the exploration of female expression and human experience.
Creating artwork for her is about the experience and the journey. Her pieces seek to engage viewers in reflecting and ultimately finding empathy and connection in the story of the figure in each landscape. Find more from Becky here.
