Keep us young 30x40
30x40x1.5, unframed mixed media on canvas
The Dreamscape collection was a curated restraint. While I typically paint intuitively, I used this collection to challenge myself to slow down and plan each piece. I’ve finally established a process to fall back on to keep myself painting even when I not “feeling it” or inspired. This process combines the mediums I love to create something I find incredibly beautiful. Most of the works in the collection were first painted as minis on paper then cropped and “practiced” digitally until I created a composition I connected with.
This palette was inspired by a mini series I painted called, “Adventure.” The bight terracotta and deep emerald give me a feeling of excitement and ease.
As an abstract intuitive painter, whose work is primarily driven by my own emotions, naming works can eventually become difficult. there are only so many names you can give to your emotions. With this collection, I decided to look to someone else’s emotions. Each piece is named based on lyrics from the music I listened to as I painted the collection.
